INTRODUCTION, PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Safety and health policy of KMCo Suntech is a statement of intent by the company to provide a safe place of work for employees and to ensure an adequate system of communication on all matters affecting health and safety at work. The overall responsibility rest with management that all employees at every level must accept degrees of responsibility for carrying out this policy and ensuring safe methods of working.

Management is responsible and accountable for the implementation of overall safety policy of the company. Senior management is ensuring safety, health performance objective through effective safety and health training programs and continues improvement in the process by rectifying any unsafe practice observed during spot checks and review. employees are trained in safe work practices, policies and procedures. Management will establish curriculum objectives for enhancing employee awareness through various levels of training.
AUDITS OF WORK PLACE
Only when senior management recognizes deficiencies can programs policies and procedures be enhanced. Safety audits provide an ongoing assessment of performance and timely correction of deficiencies. Senior management develops objectives for safety and health performance. The level of success will be measured by the degree to which objectives are met. KMCo Suntech projects safety and health program is controlled by management as any other function such as quality schedule and cost.
OBJECTIVES
In its fundamental objective of preventing accidents, KMCo Suntech provides for the following safety and health programs.
Development and maintenance of procedures of managing all aspects and safety and health.
Weekly safety meetings for management and employees.
Employee and sub-contractor orientation and training in safety and health procedures.
COMPLIANCE
Each employee must adhere to safety and health program regulations. Any employee who will fully disregard these regulations is liable for dismissal. The company does not allow the wellbeing of others or even the offending employee to be jeopardized because one of the employee’s actions or omissions.
ORGANIZATION AND RESPONSIBILITY
The co-corporate safety and health program is under the direction of the operation manger. The responsibility includes assisting and advising management in the formulation of the safety and health policy. Administering the company’s safety and health program providing guidance for operating management in meeting safety objectives. Ensuring that the company safety and health programs are in compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. These responsibilities are
KMCo Suntech Project management is responsible for safety and health of all its employee while they are their duties. Management’s objectives is an efficient, productive effort that incorporates all elements of loss prevention through the participation of the construction department, associated company management, project managers, project engineers, Forman, employees, subcontractors and suppliers.
SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE
The assigned safety representative administrators the safety and health programs. The safety representative is responsible for the following functions:
FORMAN RESPONSIBILITIES
Each Forman ensures a cooperative effort in the following areas. Instruction of employees in hazard recognition and avoidance on the job. maintenance of safe and healthful work place through the use to safe tools and equipment. Support of project safety activities and procedures. EMPLOYEE
There is required to learn and comply with all safety and health rules and regulations applicable to their work and to general safety of the other workers on the project. It’s the employee’s responsibility to support management in providing a safe place to work and report all safety and health hazards and accidents at once to his or supervisor.
CONTRACTOR AND SUBCONTRACTOR
The Project Manager and assigned safety representatives advises the external contractors and subcontractor of the established company safety and health
Procedures, client requirements, and other applicable regulations’ contractor and subcontractors are required to comply with the KMCo Suntech Project safety program as it applies to their work and contract.
SAFETY MEETINGS AND RECORDS
Weekly Safety Meeting
The company is required to instruct each employee how to recognize and avoid unsafe conditions.it is also required to inform the employee of policies and procedures applicable to his work environment in an effort to control or eliminate hazards or exposures that causes illness or injury.
Supervisor Safety Meeting
The project manager conducts a safety meeting periodically for supervisors to discuss special problems, plant safety campaigns and analyze accidents.
Environmental and Health Procedures
Safety personnel at KMCo Suntech projects must maintain a file of material safety Data sheets on chemical substances used at locations, which when used without special precautions and controls constitute a safety and health hazards to the employee. The company’s purchasing agents must request.
